abstract = "The identification of effective pesticides to combat parasites as
the tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus requires hatchability
studies in the presence of acaricides, part of the process is the
egg counting. Due to the small size and the large number of eggs
placed, the counting task is laborious and demand long periods. We
propose a method of automatic counting of eggs using images
captured with stereoscopic microscope. The proposed method
combines border detection techniques and morphological operations
to identify eggs regions. Features extractors and machine learn
techniques are used to identify eggs overlap regions. Preliminary
results indicate an accuracy of 93% in predicting the number of
eggs in a much shorter time fraction compared to the traditional
                         manual counting technique.",
